How to Make: Desert Pearl Bead Stretch Bracelet

Desert pearls are .925 sterling silver beads that are oxidized, tumbled, and polished to achieve a smooth matte finish. They are available in a wide range of sizes and styles including:

  • Round
  • Corrugated
  • Saucer
  • Torpedo
  • Textured variations

Today we'll be giving you a step-by-step guide on how to craft your very own desert pearl bead stretch bracelet using our 8mm desert pearl beads and .8mm stretch magic cord. We'll provide links to materials you'll need as well as video resource if you're a more visual learner.

Step-by-Step Assembly

Bracelet Instructions

Step 1

Measure your wrist with a cloth measuring tool. If you don’t have one, use paper or string and mark where it meets. I'm using a rubber band that i'll be marking with a pen.

  • Wrap around your wrist.
  • Mark where it meets.
  • Lay it on a ruler.
Step 1 image
Use the Bracelet Size guide to determine how much string you will need. Cut a few inches extra for knot tying.
Step 2

Accumulate enough of your desired beads for your fit. Divide bracelet length (mm) by bead size (mm), keeping the knot in mind.

Step 3

Stretch the string slightly before starting. Tape or clamp one end so beads don’t roll off.

Step 4

Once your bead order is set, string them onto the Stretch Magic cord until complete.

Step 5

Get ready to create your knot.

  1. Pre-stretch the string
  2. Cross strands (right over left)
  3. Fold one end over to create a half knot
  4. Cross strands again (left over right)
  5. Fold one end over
  6. Pull tight
  7. Repeat, glue, then trim close
  8. Slide knot under a bead and let dry

Tips for a Professional Finish

  • Alternate knot direction (left-over-right, then right-over-left) for a more secure knot.
  • Lightly pre-stretch your cord.
  • Lay out your bead pattern before stringing.

Final Thoughts

Now that you’ve got the basics down, try experimenting with different desert pearl bead shapes and sizes to create a whole set, stacking bracelets is where these really shine. If you want to level up the look, focus on consistent spacing, a balanced pattern, and a tidy hidden knot. Check the video below for a visual references if you get stuck.
