About Pantone Color of the Year

For over 20 years, Pantone has selected a color to represent the new year. Pantone's Color of the Year has influenced product development and purchasing decisions in countless industries, including: fashion, home furnishings, industrial design, as well as product packaging and graphic design.

Announcing the Pantone Color of the Year 2020

PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue

"Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era."

Classic Blue, considered a "timeless and... is elegant in its simplicity". At the announcement of the Color of the Year, it was revealed that people would be able to enjoy the color beyond its visual capacity. Along with the art people make with the color, Pantone released an audio track and a fragrance that embodies the color. "As we head into a new era, we want to challenge ourselves to find inspiration from new sources that not only evolve our Color of the Year platform, but also help our global audiences achieve richer and more rewarding color experiences," said Laurie Pressman, vise president of the Pantone Color Institute.
