What is an ear threader?
Ear threaders are earring findings made from a chain that slips easily through the ear. Some styles feature a solid station or bar in the center to help keep the earring in place, while others can be adjusted to different lengths for a more customizable fit.
Ear threaders are available in a variety of styles, including open ring, hollow ball, and solid bridge designs and typically range from 3" to 6" in length.

Step-by-Step Assembly
Earring Instructions
Pick desired ear threader and beads.
At this stage, you can lay your beads out on a non-slip mat to visualize your pattern before placing them onto the ear threader. This step is optional, as the beads can easily slide on and off if you decide to make adjustments later.
Begin stringing your beads onto the ear threader in your desired pattern.
At this stage, you have a couple of options. You can leave the earrings as-is, allowing you to easily swap out or change the design later, or you can secure the beads in place by adding a bead stopper or crimp at the end.
In this guide, we’ve chosen to keep the earrings interchangeable and store them on a velvet earring display stand to help keep the beads secure and in place when not being worn.
Tips for a Professional Finish
- Picking the right Ear Threader - When picking your desired threader keep in mind how you would like the beads to sit and how far you would like the earring to hang.
- Lay beads out before stringing - Arranging your design on a bead mat helps ensure spacing and symmetry before committing to the wire.
- Securing Beads - If you decide to make your design permanent, you can use a bead stopper or crimp at the end of the threader to keep the beads in place.
