Customer Spotlight - Suegray Jewelry
By Sophia@wjsco.com - August 02, 2017Borrowing from history, suegray combines old with new in all of her jewelry… old broken bottles worn smooth by the surf, transformed into sea glass that she has collected from the shore and wrapped into colorful jewelry or by hand casting precious metal charms from her wonderful collection of antique wax seals, all crafted by her hands to create inspirational and meaningful little talismans.
Inspired by the sea glass colors, textures, and shapes she uses traditional hand tools to wrap each unaltered and authentic piece of sea glass in sterling silver wire creating jewelry that is unique in its shape, size, and color.
The wax seal jewelry is hand cast from her large personal collection of unique antique wax seals, some dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries, others dating to the Georgian or Victorian eras.
The imagery on every wax seal is well researched to determine the meaning and symbolism in heraldry and history, to translate proverbs and mottos inscribed in other languages and to identify text that is sometimes so small that it is difficult to read.
Each wax seal necklace charm is a precious little treasure with its own unique symbolism and significance.
Each piece is unique and beautiful, browse her designs on her website and Etsy page!
